A legacy built on trust

John Coatter opened J.R. Coatter's Hairstyling in 1982. Forty-four years later, he's become a staple in West Akron.

He showed up every day. He learned names, remembered details, and earned the kind of trust that keeps people coming back. For 30 of those years, his wife Jamie has been right there with him, doing color and cuts of her own. She's staying on to keep doing exactly that.

When John started thinking about what came next, he wasn't looking for just anyone to take over. He was looking for someone he could trust. Kyle's family had been walking through this door for years. John understood his shop was never just a haircut — it was about the people who showed up year after year. When they'd talked it through, they shook on it.

That's how Good Hands began. With a handshake and a promise to take care of everyone that walks through this door.

Kyle is grateful for John's trust, and for the community that's shown up for this shop for 44 years. He doesn't take either one lightly, and he's looking forward to carrying this legacy into its next chapter.
